NO! NO! I am not in the tiniest bit offended by this observation - you were commenting on my past medical history, which come to think of it, as MissJ mentioned my duf-ass doc never even asked me about - even a year ago when I first consulted him about MixTo and specifically asked, "With my sensitive skin, wouldn't this treatment be a bit aggressive?"

He could've asked right then, "Well, do you have a history of skin rashes, breakouts or things that make you conclude you have sensitive skin?" DUH-OH. Big opp'y missed. And I could kick myself that he had so much credibility with me for being a good facial reconstructive surgeon that I thought he was knowledgeable about other medical areas. Very dumb. Hope I don't make that mistake again.

I am hoping there is NO lingering staph infection triggering this rash ... and time will tell. But it IS major pine tree pollen season up here for the next week or so, and maybe that could be a trigger. I am going to be patient and see how this week goes. Our pollen surge lasts about 2-3 weeks only. I can only say that not only am I prone to skin rashes in general, BUT my doc thinks I'm going to be even MORE prone to them until my immune system gets back in balance.

To that end, I got some B-100 supplements today ... and will add them to my daily regimen.

Sorry Bug if you took it that way. It was certainly not posted with any other motive than true caring..... as I have shown all along

Yes, and in fact, there is also a clear link between staph aureus infections such as I had and atopic dermatitis:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Staphylococcus_aureus

So even one prone to rashes like me is going to be even MORE likely to get an atopic dermatitis outbreak thanks to the staph (which better be GONE!).

Even if she has skin problems; hypersensitivities, there is a direct correlation between her getting a staph infection and not being given pre-antibiotics. It does get WORSE though if she has a history of skin problems. But its WORSE BECAUSE she had a doctor who was NON CONVERSANT in skin problems--the one who did not give her ABs, MISDIAGNOSED some of her sequellae and perhaps did not take her history of skin problems into consideration.

The more I hear about your doc, the worse he gets. You know, IF doc is doing a SKIN procedure which the laser is, he needs to consider your SKIN HISTORY. THIS doc DID NOT.

Here you were at HIGH RISK due to your skin history, something he does not even consider and then he tells you he did not give pre-ABs due to 'over use' of ABs. Your case was one that justified the risks of ABs before hand. THAT is not even "hindsight" as he said. This dolt did not have the foresight to take a skin history and RELATE it with your being the type of person who SHOULD be given AB's.

I think you should find a DERM to WRITE A PAPER on your case. It would be a good topic for a paper that discussed 'risk analysis' for giving pre-ABs in light of PATIENT HISTORY of skin conditions vs. 'concerns of overuse of ABs'. That would be great if you got a DERM to write an academic paper on your case and then showed that to your PS and then announced to boards there was such a paper on your case and then you could tell everyone who your doctor was and not worry ONE SHRED about being anywhere need the 'defamation' line.

BOY is that a GREAT idea!! I will ask my derm doc if he or even an intern needing a thesis topic would be interested! I sometimes wonder at the "higher" reason why I was put through this misery. I consider myself very strong, fit and mentally stable. But this experience has shaken me like NOTHING else in my life. I have moments of JUMP-outta-my skin anxiety that just shock the hell out of me. I'm not used to being overwhelmed with an issue that needs so much fussing over and repeat visits to doctors and specialists. Maybe another person would've flat out DIED as a result of this incompetence, but somehow I am here to provide a lesson.

My rash is a TINY bit better today - I think cuz I am just plain not going to let it dominate my day. And Monday I was told to call the derm doc to get on Prednisone if it isn't significantly better.

Yes, each week (if not day) brings about yet another and another follow-on issue that ALL could've been avoided with FORESIGHT.

Wow, you have been through a nightmare, bugjune! I'm so very sorry you have had to endure this, but I think you've been incredibly strong considering what you've been through. As hard as it is, try to keep up the positive thoughts of a good outcome and stay calm. I am sure your doctor is doing some big time squirming about now. Hang in there, girl.

Yes that is a good idea, Bug. My personal philosophy on life is there must be a higher reason for all the untoward things that happen.(and good things!) If I can either learn something about myself from them to improve myself as a being, or they are a means of my being able to help others, then all is not wasted. It is the only way I have been able to cope with some of the dreadful events that have happened in my life.
And one thing you HAVE done, is helped many, many people to think twice about having these procedures performed by a person who is not conversant with and prepared for ALL the possible side effects.

So a big thank you Bugs.

Thanks again to each and EVERY one of you with all your positive vibes, suggestions and SUPPORT! I'd be in a padded cell right now if not for this board. I am posting links to my photo album (monster's gallery) at MakeMeHeal.com and RealSelf.com, too! The more who see the dangers of laser, the better informed they'll be.

I'm definitely going to try and stay positive, enjoy LIFE, and focus on some point way out in the future when ALL has resolved, and I can get back to being 55 and ALIVE.

That shouldn't be too hard for you Bug - I'm so glad you are on your way to recovery - long may it last - BTW- and since you believe in Mercury retrograde et al. you may not be dismissive of this ,but I always "protect" myself with White Light in my daily life, and especially when I am doing any cosmetic procedure - it may sound hoaky to some people but it works - P.M. me if you want to know how this is done - (if you don't already know it)

Yes....I think things, even SUCKY SUCKY things happen for a reason, however much we hate thinking that way. This one is hard to figure though, huh...but yes, maybe somebody somewhere is reading your story and who knows if their life will be spared because of your story, or how many people will avoid this kind of miserable reaction because you're generous enough to tell your story and show your pictures. Hugs, Bug!! Feel better...

Funny! I've been doing the SAME thing for years now! Every time I fly I do the White Light around the plane and my front door at home. After health issues like the one I'm still going through, I'm doing GREEN and White Light. It is not hoaky at all, but I'm wondering why my results aren't happening fast enough.

Could you please do a White Light on me, too? I need help. Just surround my WHOLE body, cuz that rash is like a wildfire ...

Thanks!
Bugs

It really is hard to figure.

But maybe I can just go baby steps from here on, celebrating the TINY victories! The rash on my lower back and scalp are flat and fading a little bit - YAY! ... now it's burning lumpy and bumpy on my thighs and shoulder blades. Baby steps.

Thanks for your continued positive vibes!!!

I don't know if you are into Louise Hay's work at all, but she says rashes are caused by irritation over delays (how apt). Her affirmation for rashes is " I love and approve of myself. I am at peace with the process of life."

"My friends, love is better than anger.
Hope is better than fear.
Optimism is better than despair.
So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic.
And we’ll change the world."

I am completely unfamiliar with Ms. Hay! So I will surf up to Amazon.com momentarily, the better to enlighten myself!

Barbiegirl, you looked SO SUPER in that photo you posted a while back .. but you seem to know a lot about body functioning and malfunctioning .. how is that so? You are so young to have suffered anything too adverse, I would hope! And judging by your glowing good looks, you must practice what you preach.

I have actually written out a POSITIVE AFFIRMATION of how I want my skin to look again - the better to achieve it. C'mon magic, I need you now!

Pleeease get better soon. This has to end for you! On the up side, you seem to be basically healthy and not in much pain, so that's something to be glad about. I am wishing you a full and complete recovery and if your skin looks better, hey, that would be a plus at this point. Keep up your positive(ish!) attitude, which is going to seeing you through to THE END OF THIS MESS.
