Hi, my Dad is 88 years old and in a nursing home. I was advised to get him some shower gel/body wash and would like some good quality, nice masculine-scented one. Any suggestions? Thanks, Tux

CVS is full of lots of choices for that.

Can hardly walk. Need hip replacement.

I don't want to sound presumptuous - but just sharing info from when my mom was in a nursing home for several weeks.

Get your dad an unscented, dermatology-tested shower gel. But be sure to write his name on the bottle with a waterproof marker. All his toiletries should be returned to his room (sometimes folks at a nursing home are wheeled down the hall for a daily bath). Even in the *best* of homes, things have a way of disappearing unless they are in the person's room, labeled with their name.

Now maybe your dear dad has tough skin, but I say go gentle, cuz the LAST thing you want on him is a skin reaction! And sometimes even the scent hours later can irritate one's sinuses.

You are sweet to think of him. Does he have a cell phone to use there?

I really like all the Jack Black stuff, which can be purchased here. There are others that might be more mositurizing, but you should most definitely caution your father about the slippery bathtub floors they leave behind.

Tux, I love products from this company. I don't think you or he'd be disappointed.

Thank-you all for your responses and I will check them all out. My Dad is in a dementia unit and even though he can carry on a pretty good conversation and socialize relatively well and talk on a telephone, he would not be able to maneuver the workings of a cellphone. I might add, he was a postman and with all the walking he did he is physically as healthy as a horse! He loves sports and each vet (he is in a veteran's facility where he is treated wonderfully) has their own television right up close to them that they can maneuver and I must say the picture is the clearest I have ever seen even comparing it to all of the new ones with the bells and whistles that I can't even keep up with. He watches the sports channel from morning to night! I will be vixiting him tomorrow. Thank-you all again. Tux
