Here is a photo taken from "the sartorialist" website:

I find her beautiful and unusual looking despite the long upper lip and thinish lips.

Her gaze is mesmerizing and seductive

Hey! She looks like Franka Potente (of "Run Lola Run" and the "Bourne Identity" fame; and she was on an episode of "House" about a year ago). If homely can be attractive, this is it. There IS something hard but appealing about these gals. Can't quite put my finger on it ...

Bugjune, do you really think she looks homely and hard? What would you change?

The outfit she is wearing tries to convey hard but her face and eyes tells me otherwise.

Fixit, I think I know what you see. She seems very sensitive and sencere, as if she would be a loyal and good friend and also has a mysterious appeal..like the Mona Lisa. You wonder what she's thinking. Yes, I see her beauty/appeal. Her features all work together. I like the heavy lidded eyes, her lips and chin too and very nice cheek bones. This may be your long lost soul mate!

Speaking of Lily Taylor , what surgeries would help her look?
She looks average to me.

I think she looks cagey as a fox. Like she'd eat me for lunch, then belch, then laugh. TOUGHIE. Dunno why. Maybe the eyes, combined with long, swooping nose, upturned mouth and pointy chin?

I would not change ONE thing on her. Even her hair suits her. She has a hard, lived-in look like, she's learned some tough lessons and won't get burned that way again ever. Would be funny to learn she sings in a church choir and works as a bookkeeper.

No. Not never. I'd put money on it.

anato and Bugjune both pinned her accurately.

anato nailed her true nature, bugjune nailed her persona. her persona derived from her experience and how she feels she must present herself to survive in this world = image construction.

anato is also right, she is sincere, loyal and trustworthy.

peronalities are never just one thing, they are usually two opposing sides trying to find balance. the uniting of opposites. night/day, good/evil

i do not find her homely. i find her to be her own entity. very much the individual.

She has the mixed ethnic look going on which could be what you like. Note she has the single Asian eyelid fold. This is common for some people in Russia or that area because there are still 'splashes' of prior Mongolian invasions many years back in those territories. She also has 'Caucasian' elements to the face and when I say 'Caucasian', I don't just mean "white". I mean people close to the Caucas mountain regions who have prominent bone structure to the face. I would not call her upper lip 'long'. It's just NOT 'short' but not a short labial ledge does not make it a 'long' one. Too bad SHE RUINED HER HAIR though.

Can hardly walk. Need hip replacement.

I think she's just trying to show a little contemporary edginess...not unusual these days..especially in Europe. But she's still very much a girl. It's an artsy, individualist statement , with asymmetrical shaving of the front but keeping the length to keep her softness. She obviously knew she was being photographed so that was a good opportunity to show some nasty attitude if she had it. Where is the 'don't mess with me' look in her eye for the camera?.....Not there.
