Long post - but quite a few women have pmed me asking whether I had tried this and I want to answer all their queries -

So guys before paying $37.00 for this conditioner at Saks - I asked for a sample (and stingy people like they are - they gave me a small one) and I tried it on my hair.

Considering that the sample was not enough for the length and volume of my hair, I was quite impressed - HOWEVER I did put Joico Hair reconstrutor before it and left it on for 5 mins and then put this one (you are supposed to put a "good moist" conditioner on AFTER Joico, since it is a protein treatment and not a conditioner - so my hair is very soft and smooth but my hair is very "weather dependant" and it is also not as hot and humid as last week - so my hair is behaving itself - I really can't give a definite statement regarding how good this conditioner is as I am using other hair products along with it - Like when I washed my hair with nofrizz shampoo/conditioner - after which I put the Joico stuff on it(which just in itself is wonderful and makes the hair smooth, after which I put FF Glossing Conditioner - THEN - before blowdrying I put a whole mess of nofrizz serum for medium coarse hair PLUS Super Skinny Serum by Paul Mitchel, which is another AMAZING product to get the hair smooth - and what emerged was sleek straight hair - I did notice a bit more softness and the hair did not look as dry - but still - for me to be totally convinced this is the conditioner for me I will have to do a control study where I eliminate all the variables - this will have to be done in the Winter - when there is less humidity so I don't have to use the nofrizz shampoo/conditioner and even eliminate the nofrizz serum and then get my hair blow dried by a hairdresser - - (when I blow dry myself I need all these products as it is hard to do your hair yourself and come out looking professional LOL)

Having said all this - I will go to Target and get this - as I found out that Saks has the "advanced care" one which I heard is not good as the formula has changed - Will keep you posted - and I hope I satisfied everyone curiousity - on the whole I would give it a B+

I "do" my hair once a week - wash/condition/blow dry - I used to wash it every day and wondered why it was in such poor condition - now I know better LOL - anyway, it takes me about 1 1/2 hr to blowdry my hair since it is hard to do it yourself - though I am getting better the more often I do it -at the beauty school where I go to it takes the students (depending on how good/fast they are) about 45 mins - I really HATE blowdrying my hair as it hurts my left hand that holds my blowdryer -

My hair is a couple of inches below my bra strap - so I don't know if you would call it long hair - its medium I guess -

Good luck with FF - I am going to talk to the FF saleswoman at Saks tomorrow to ask her the difference between the old formula that is sold at Target and the new Advanced formula at Saks - I let you know what she says -

Laz, our hair is so different! What works great for you seems to have the opposite affect on me! I got a sample in the mail a few weeks ago of this stuff, or actually it was just the glosser (not conditioner--I don't think). I only used about a 1/4 of the packet and it made my hair heavy. Ugh. I must have the most finicky hair on the planet.

DCNGA has left the board and is no longer taking PMs.

John Frieda color glaze stuff is on sale at CVS. No blonde though. They want to sell a different product for blond.

Can hardly walk. Need hip replacement.

In the long run these glazes and stuff like that make my hair dry and frizzy - I have discovered "Beautiful Browns" no peroxide/no ammonia hair color and I will never part with this - It has changed the quality of my hair since I am not drying it out with all the peroxide laden permanent color - and then every six months I put some blonde streaks it to liven it up - so its all good - but thanks for the heads up - I have to go down to CVS to return the Aussie Smooth conditioner that did nothing for my hair - except to make it frizzy - but that was during that spell of horrible humid hot weather that we had - so I don't know if it was indeed the conditioner -

I bought Fekkai's Salon Glaze - $28 at Ulta (chain store) last fall. Used it slong with Fekkai's Brilliant Glossing Shampoo and Conditioner (at $23 each), cuz I thought if I used 3 products from the same "formulator" it might work a miracle.

Uh-uh. Not that impressed. I gave this trio a 3 month trial, but for my fine, thin, limp, nearly lifeless hair (that's prone to frizznaps in moist, windy weather), I find Bumble & Bumble is still the best. I use their smoothing cream every day before blow-drying my hair.

Now. That said. Dumb, curious donkey went out and bought Fekkai's Salon Technician Colorcare Shampoo & Conditioner recently. It was at CostCo fer crissake, I couldn't say NO! Good price, tried it exactly 2 days, when ... neck and chest rash broke out (last Wed). FEH! Was it the shampoo that somehow irritated my 3-week old lasered skin? Dunno! But I gave up for now, and am using that horrid-smelling J&J Baby Shampoo. I'll continue with that till ALL skin probs clear up.

That could be the 12th of never.

Yes - it is highly likely that the shampoo was the culprit - I read the reviews for FF on Make up alley and a few did mention that they break out in a rash or tiny pimples around the hairline when they use FF products - also your skin was very sensitive after laser -

Plus - I had just had my hair colored the previous day .. and shampooed with that new bottle of Fekkai. So perhaps it rinsed some of the non-permanent haircolor out as well?

I was just SO desperate to have my hair colored and conditioned after the Valtrex/Keflex drug damage. My hair would be white as the driven snow if it weren't for my coloring it. I had an inch-wide stripe that had grown out in the previous 6 weeks - like Pepe LePew's skunky girlfriend. (I usually camouflage that skunk stripe with 'Tween Times - an excellent crayon that goes on damp hair and washes out daily.)

Hmm, Ive got fine hair like Bug, maybe the glossing shampoo and conditioner isn't the right choice for me :(. I love the FF product that Ive almost finished, but I was hoping for a tad more 'smoothing' and thought the gloss may be the right product....I'll speak to the sales assistant tomorrow and she what she suggests :)

Hey Kimberly -

Which one is that? When I speak to the FF rep tomorrow I will ask whether the glossing one is good for fine hair and then I will report to you - LOL
but you may be right - it might not be the one for you as the reviews on MUA say that it can be oily and weigh the hair down and so you won't get the "full" thick hair look - for me with medium/coarse hair it could be a good thing - well I called Target and found out that they sell the Advanced version of Glossing - so its not true that Target sells the older version - so I will go and get it and use a whole lot on my hair (instead of the measly sample SAKS gave me) and then we will truly know if it is good for my hair - I heard people rave about it - so I'm hoping ....

I have that white line soon after I color as my hair grows fast. Where do you get the coloring stick you use 'tween times'? I used to use mascara when hair was black but now it's a non mascara color.

Hey MissJ, you are in luck: you can order it right online at Amazon.com:
http://www.amazon.com/Roux-Temporary-Haircolor-Touch-Up-Stick/dp/B000AAAVS6 (hope that link works for you)

Hopefully they will have a color that works for you. I go DARKER on the roots, so even tho my hair is medium to light brown, I get the DARK brown stick.

It's written up at About.com:
http://beauty.about.com/library/blreview31.htm

The stick is the size of a tube of lipstick, and lasts a long time. The trick is to wet the stick and apply it to towel-dry hair. If you wet it and put it on dry hair, it can be detected.

I've never seen it at CVS .. but you could look there next time Larazelle "calls" you! ;-)

With my 'luck', I'd probably experience more PARANORMAL computer problems if I tried to order over computer. I'll ask that CVS carry it though as I do need one of those.

Hey Larazelle :)

I'm using the 'shea butter' range, but I was hoping to switch to either the 'glossing' or the 'brilliant glossing' range. My hair is the same length as yours, and its really thick, but with super fine strands.

Thanks!!!!!

Your relationship to the 'puter is PROOF positive that MercuryRx is utter bullsheist. Cuz it's "paranormal" alllllll yearrrrrr longgggg! :-)

Now why don't you go buy yourself a Boston lottery ticket, and buy a new one with the winnings! (do they still have the lottery? did '79-81)

MissJ -

The best thing to do for that is first of all slowly start to color your hair "lighter" which you are doing so that the white regrowth won't stand out too much -

Next - use the Beautiful Brown colors - they come in a small bottle and you can quickly cover the roots, wait for about an hour or two (while you clean your apartment - watch out - LOL) and then wash it off with warm water - no shampoo - this will tide you over till the next big dye - try it at least once - I am really, really pleased with it - and this lasts even after 2 shampoos -
