lol, I have a relative who has ESP when it comes to calling me at bad moments as well. Pfft, maybe there's a HIPAA violation at the pharmacy, or this nosy person knows that when you disappear for more than a couple of days, it is time for her to get all "friendly", hah.

Bug, Looks like a long recovery, but a great result. When do you expect most of the healing to be done?

Yeah, I can relate! This same nosy neighbor invited us over directly after my week away getting Vaser High Def lipo last August. I still had a thick corset wrapped around my midsection, which was hidden a bit under a "big shirt". But she eyed me and noted that I was moving a bit creaky and slow. So I said, we'd had so much fun on our week away, I'd shopped till I threw my back out. JAYSUS CHRIST. There is no peace from this nosy gibbon. And yet, she does offer to do anything to help out ... I just want to be left alone, tho. Most famous "out" was after my first go-round with facial/body surgery 6 years ago. I was out of town recovering, popped into a random Indian store to get some tasty fare. It was real early, just 9:30am, and who should stroll in ...???? My sister-in-law! I was beyond shocked to death and back again. I'm in a city of millions, one point in time on an infinite spectrum, and she shows up. I was SO glad I'd had my camouflage makeup on and sunglasses. Holy cow. She didn't even give me a scrutiny! So I think I got away with that, too. And now here I am posting my MixTo pictures all over MMH, RealSelf and here. The older I get, the less I give two SHEETS for what anyone thinks about me, or what I do. ================================= m130 wrote:lol, I have a relative who has ESP when it comes to calling me at bad moments as well. Dao, there are actually TWO recoveries going on here, and that could perhaps be slowing things down. My Valtrex reaction continues to bug me. I am verrrrry tired, have persistent edema in my lower legs, and wonder if that's still a result of Valtrex (which I stopped taking after just 7 pills way back on May 17). As for my MixTo recovery, there was an almost overnight improvement right around 2 weeks post. Now I chug along, day after day, with my raccoon eyes and clawed-looking chest. It does get better by tiny baby steps. I continue to visualize on another major improvement in skin long about mid-June. But I wake up with a swollen face every morning, despite sleeping on two pillows and drinking LOTS of water. I am walking every day, and that helps with healing and circulation too. Gets the toxic lymph moving again. My final, final results from MixTo will not be until October. I am going to take another picture at my one-month post; then perhaps at 3 months and 6 months, so folks will see finally and completely what the recovery is like from laser resurfacing. I seem unable to take Botox anymore - that aggravated my under eye area, making it horribly pruney and bagged. So now I have to make an effort to NEVER EVER make a facial expression when I talk! I don't want to etch new lines into my baby skin. But can you picture me being unanimated?! I am as histrionic in my expressions as I am colorful in my writing! In short: I will wrinkle. <:-(O) ============================================= dao wrote:Bug, Looks like a long recovery, but a great result. When do you expect most of the healing to be done? Your poor body went through the mill with the Valtrex reaction, so I guess it'd be hard to tell whether the swollen leg thing is from that, or a combination of that and the whole treatment thing. Almost forgot to tell you I looked at your pictures! Busy lately, and crazy, too. ;-) Amazed at how the face progressed, and the eyes and chest will get there, too. It's not for sissies, is it?! But, wow...you WILL look great by October, I'm sure of that..and that it'll be worth it. You're so pretty anyway (nice to have a face to go with our madcap "Bug"'s posts!). Still thinking about ya and sending healing thoughts your way!

Shaz, you are so sweet to keep me in your thoughts - and PLEASE keep sending those healing vibes!! My MixTo'd skin has just kind of hit a plateau the past week - not much change from day 13/14 post. Feh. Double-feh. Lastest: I developed a rash alllllll along the right side of my neck, clear down onto my chest. Why the right side? Dunno! Maybe it rubbed on some fabric? I have been real tender and good about gentle washing with Cetaphil; now dabbing on Aquaphor + Bacitracin to that area. I snapped a shot of me as I look today, and emailed it to my PS who did the MixTo. He says the Valtrex episode likely postponed my road to recovery by at least TWO weeks. I'd sure agree. Based on my continuous swelling "cankles", he also recommended that I get extensive blood work-up at my annual physical (luckily, coming up on July 8th): TSH, Rhumatoid, Liver and Metabolic panels ... just in case gaddang Valtrex has PHUCKED up my organs. Now does that make me sleep easier at night? I want to plug the BP OIL LEAK with Valtrex. Stuff is toxic. I Bug U

Thanks gals! Let's all focus on the RASH, too. I want it gone by Monday. (wrapping a green, healing aura around my neck right now). But MissJ, you are right, I will keep all fingers crossed that toxic Valtrex will just be gone for good. MissJ: I am SO glad you've been set up with a working temporary computer! I'm telling you, my mother-in-law in India does not have half the computing challenges you have right here. Sarah W: yes, he is a good doc. One thing that impresses me about him is his calm, honest demeanor. When there's a prob (like my needing 2 IVs that week after the procedure) he knew it and made it happen; now he recommends the blood work - which I would never have known to ask about. I have faith in him. I just wish I had not been so impulsive and had this seemingly *simple* procedure done WHEN MERCURY WAS IN RETROGRADE! Yes, consider that last retro phase (from late April through May): Iceland volcano blows its top, screwing up air transportation all over Europe; BP oil leak - worst ecological disaster in our lifetime, guaranteed to change legislation and business going forward; several huge earthquakes here 'n there, mess up people's lives, jobs, travel, communications. A lot for our planet to juggle at once. I Bug U

I had a nurse tell me that just jumping up and down in place (or on a mini trampoline) is really good for that. I have no idea if that is common knowledge, but it was the first time I had heard of it. Here's some info on it if anyone wants to know: "One of rebounding's special benefits is its ability to improve flow in the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is the metabolic garbage can of the body. It rids the body of toxins, fatigue substances, dead cells, cancer cells, nitrogenous wastes, trapped protein, fatty globules, pathogenic bacteria, infectious viruses, foreign substances, heavy metals, and other assorted junk the cells cast off. Stagnant or inadequate lymph flow is associated with the onset of many symptoms and illnesses, including bursitis in the shoulders, bunions, joint stiffness or soft tissue spasms, dry flaking skin, bad breath, body odors, lethargy, depression, and cancer. Unlike the circulatory system with the heart as its pump, the lymph system lacks a pump to move the fluid. It is vital that the lymph fluids continue to flow in order to eliminate waste from the body. The flow is dependent on muscle contractions and body movements, massage and other forms of compression, and gravity. One of the best ways to stimulate this flow is by exercising."

Dao, you are absolutely SPOT-ON with that info on the lymph system. I've been reading up a lot about it, and am convinced that my near auto-immune conditions going on now (swollen ankles/feet, rash on neck, ache in shoulder, feelings of fatigue and lethargy) are due to a sluggish lymph. I have been doing daily self-massage for my lymph, and will continue to kick up the pace on my exercise - cuz I'm usually very active, non-smoker, eat healthy, maintain body weight - all this fine, upstanding living ... that somehow didn't spare me much from that reaction to Valtrex and the LONG recovery since. It's easy to get discouraged as new symptoms and problems sprout up unwanted every few days. I would go stark raving mad if it weren't for my hubby, who tells me firmly: "Now simmer down. Just go sit for 10 minutes and meditate right now." And then he sets a timer and I try to force my mind to quiet down. Well .. that was a sidebar from the main topic: LYMPH. It can not be underestimated how important that toxic waste flow is for our bodies!!! I am determined to see a dramatic improvement by MONDAY with a concentration on my lymph and diet. Thanks for sharing. I Bug U

BJ, This temp computer is top of the line. Thing is, it's top of the line because it's a 'legal' computer as in from an intellectual property data base firm. Set up for me to get back onto my public website. But I'm limited in private correspondence over e-mails. Like I'm asked not to correspond over private e-mail with parties I'm not familiar with. I say that in the event lurkers are reading and decide to e-mail me: Private e-mail correspondence with me is LIMITED at this time.
Keep up the lymph massage thing as I think that will help. Also, you did the right thing by telling the FDA about the Valtrex problem.
You even might want to consider doing a 'sticky' about laser peels and the VALTREX risk.

"Legal" and "top of the line" sound REALLY fine! :-) I am definitely doing the lymphatic message - just completed my "floor exercises" which are 40 minutes of stretch, flex, some Pilates, gut-busters, arm weights, the lymph massage AND 30 sets of going up and down my stairs (15 steps). Dammit, I am more than determined to climb on top of this heap and be ME, healthy ME, once again! But tell me: how do I do a "sticky"? I would be happy to put up a note about Valtrex and laser peels - replete with links to other websites with more info. Do I just post it - or do I have to mark it as a sticky somehow? I Bug U

Ya, this computer ROCKS. 'Legal' meaning it's a company (big time IP company) computer that does not have the problems my computer had. Thing is I'm not going to get to keep it for long.

In solidarity, my old puter decided to die Thurs. I was able to buy a loaner I had been using last winter. Just so everybody knows, it was an HP and it was a real lemon. Only lasted two years and I had recently replaced the mother board.

I have written the "sticky" - it's running 960 words. I included many links to things brought up in the sticky (types of skin surfacing technologies, risks with laser resurfacing, info on MixTo, comparison chart of other comparable lasers, info on Valtrex side effects, etc.) Do you want me to email you a word doc for your review? Sorry to ping ya here in public, but I wasn't sure if your PM inbox was stuffed to bursting! Cheers! Bug [quote=MissJ]I put up the 'sticky' FOR YOU after you compose an information laden post. Mine was a Compaq. But it died after I guess 3 years. This temp one is a Dell lap top connected to my key board and my old screen. stache wrote:In solidarity, my old puter decided to die Thurs.
