OK. Right on cue after posting my last message, our home DSL modem DIED. Yes died. So no internet connection for several hours. Brilliant hubby has wired up line to go through his Nokia cell phone. Gotta love that dude. So here I am again to answer the questions:

YES, I had previous work done. In 2004, I had a midface lift, endo brow lift, upper eyelid bleph, neck lift/lipo. Done by the same surgeon who just did my MixTo, in Palo Alto, CA. And I have to say, that despite the HORRIBLE reaction to Valtrex, I never lost faith in my doc. He has a conservative approach and NO visible scars is his motto. I would not hesitate to recommend him for FACE work of any kind. (Now, if you're looking for body work, I have another super surgeon in Sac'to, CA).

Now MissJ, I have to chuckle. I swear YOU 'n ME and my HUBBY were all at MIT together. He transferred from CalTech to MIT in winter '78; we were married summer '79 and moved to Boston in time for the fall semester. I worked at WSBK while my husband went to grad school for 2 years. We actually got a place on campus (no small feat!) in Westgate - view of the Chahles Rivah. We used to joke about all the nerds paddling about the river with their pencil cases in their shirt pocket. And for entertainment: right there, baby: Lecture Series Committee SUCKS (was the common chant). I'll never forget when we saw "Young Frankenstein" at LSC. Each and every time the camera took a new shot, someone would float some technically engineered paper airplane at the screen. By the end of the movie, there was a pile a foot deep of paper planes flown from MIT nerd hands! Hysterical.

In 1981, my hubby xferred to Stanford AI program, so we moved to the Bay Area. But I cried leaving Boston. Place grows on ya!

Other questions: yes, my hair is dyed very nicely by a sweetheart who is going to drop dead of a heart attack when she sees me on Tuesday, hair appt day! :-) I would be utterly and completely silver haired if I didn't color it. And believe me, after this recovery, probably all the way to pure WHITE. I started going gray at 28.

Oh yes, and I AM trying to hide out from "Nosy Nancy" my neighbor. She invited us to a BBQ on Sunday, and I know she's DYING to look at me, cuz all she knows is that I had a very bad reaction to a drug. The rest of the story is what's got her tongue hangin' out. I know I'll tell her, but crissake, gimme space, know what I'm sayin?

You resemble one of the actresses of the H'wood glamour era but I cannot remember which one..Ava Gardner maybe?

KK is uncanny at figuring out who people look like and posting a pic, maybe she will come along and do that.

OH DCNGA - you made my day! Ava Gardner is my absolute FAVE. And no, I know I don't resemble her. She exudes sensuality. I would kill to look like her.

MANY have told me I remind them of Katy Hepburn. Yup. I've got her personality - ballsy, outspoken, occasionally vulnerable, but a tough cookie. I never found her that attractive - kind of severe for my taste.

But I will dwell long in dreamland and pretend I DO look like Ava. :-)

Yes, seems like we were all there at same time. Westgate was for the married people. I lived in Bexley (all male dorm LOL)--lived there 'illegally' but needed to live there because it was like an apartment and I had cats, plants and wanted to cook for myself. My friend; Sharon Gill, also married an Indian guy who was a 'Sik'. I don't think I saw you there though. I was one of editors of the humor magazine and 'Thursday' paper when there was a big 'scandal' (hit the media) from our paper.

No, I don't know Bexley at MIT. But my hubby spent his first semester at the all male Ashdown House (a.k.a. "Trashdown"). I can't believe they let you live in an all male dorm, cuz you're right about Westgate being for married folks: we had to SHOW them the MARRIAGE certificate. Yeah, those were the days before "Three's Company" opened up some minds.

Gill is a very common Sikh name. While Sikhs are supposed to go by Singh, many use their original surname - which defeats one of the major points of Sikhism: no class distinctions.

I don't recall the scandal you refer to ... but I found the B.O. pretty damn scandalous at MIT. Crissake, no one seemed to use deodorant, and it was nowhere more apparent than lining up for LSC movie night!!!

The admin did not 'let' me live there. Bexley was a 'druggie' dorm with weirdos in it and many incoming freshman when choosing dorms to live would write; 'ANYWHERE BUT BEXLEY'. The residents would SCARE the freshman. So it was EASY for me to find a freshman who got 'stuck' there and just PAY him off to live elsewhere and I occupied his room but under his name as official resident. The apartments at Bexley were HUGE compared to dorm rooms and had private kitchen and bathrooms. My room mate was a male who build a LOFT and I slept on botton. Him on top. I had CATS--like 5 of them and I needed a place on campus that was like an apartment and needed to cook for myself cuz i was NOT eating the cafeteria food. I also had a lot of PLANTS and was able to build a green house in my apartment. My room mate was into plants too but marijuana which he grew in the closet. Lot's of people had marijuana growing in closet. I did not as I don't like the stuff.

Bexley is on Mass Ave across from MAIN building entrance; 77 Mass Ave official MIT address of Main Building of 'infinite hall'. We used to use a BED FRAME as a BIG barbecue and put a half COW on there.

Now "Gill" was HER name. I don't remember his.

The scandal was when Roxanne slept with about 30 guys and wrote REVIEWS about them which was published in the paper. Then there was the scandal about one of our 'Suicide' issues giving tips on 'How to kill yourself'.

Hi Bugjune. You look so much younger and even with all the healing and the swelling, you look very youthful.
Especially the eyes look like a the ones from teenagers - very very young.

Will the skin stay like that for a while? (It looks too good to be true). How long do you think the result will last?

And it seems that one has to take off 2 full weeks. There is no doubt about that.

Thanks for sharing the images.

Guys you make me LAUGH! I love the comments and thanks for the early compliments.

I want to go on record saying that my husband is peerless! He is not only a smart (CalTech, MIT, Stanford grad) and clever monkey, but he is a pillar of support and strength. Born in India, mom is American, dad a Sikh. I simply could not have done this (or past procedures) without him being there every step of the way.

He'd stand in front of me when in public (yes, I had to go pee-pee at Fry's!) and is just a warrior bulldog of perseverance in everything he undertakes. He did all these thumbnail shots for me this morning so I could get them up at MMH.

He was positive and encouraging throughout that Twilight Zone of fever and recovery - egging me ON. After the whole week was over, he collapsed and slept 14 hours. We are like Lucy and Ricky. I am the trouble maker; he resolves all. Makes for funny moments. Only in the past few days has he shared how shocking the whole thing was to him, and wondered how I ever survived the ordeal. But "testicular fortitude" best describes my very special hubby.

WOW!!! You guys overwhelm me with your positive comments. My God, I keep seeing my dad! MY DAD! Every time I look in the mirror.

My PS said, "You'll enjoy some fine skin for at least 3-4 years before repeating this MixTo." I now COUGH and GUFFAW at the thought of EVER going through this again - mainly because the reaction to Valtrex. And that anti-viral is something I don't think I could safely avoid taking prior to deep facial lasering.

But it's years off, I'm gonna enjoy the work! And I was as surprised as anyone to see how the lasering tightened up my upper eyelids. Could still be swelling, so the jury is out till about October on my final, final results.

Each day, the skin gets a little less blotchy - it's dry as toast, tho!

Thanks for all the positive vibes - BIG HUGS from BUGS

Add bangs - and you could be THERE! Yes, I usually have bangs, but things have been a bit sticky around the forehead area, so my hair is completely slicked back.

Today I got my hair cut 'n colored! My hairdresser's hair nearly turned white seeing my face: eyes still raccoon-ringed with BRIGHT red skin. But she is a trooper, and she did a careful and gentle job on me. OH BOY did it feel great to have my hair DONE. Bangs are BACK!

After taking antibiotics for 9 days, my hair seemed to dry out to coconut strands, AND my fingertips are all molting big sheafs of skin. Yes, things just get better and better in lizard-land.

Wow, you went from looking like you could be in a zombie movie on days 3-10 to YOUNG. Very nice!

I wonder if you could have avoided a lot of pain with Guyuron's silicone mask, but the Valtrex reaction might have caused other problems with that.

Fantastic, thanks for sharing. And what a horrific recovery, at least you have a few years off now.

God knows I have a pickle barrel full of Aquaphor on hand! I slather it on my pink areas and lips still. I tried Bacitracin ointment on them - did ok! Then did research that suggested using OTC cortisone.

So, now I am getting some results from that on my fingertips. But it is an hourly process to trim off the excess skin, sterilize the clippers, wash hands gently with Cetaphil, and re-apply cortisone. I'm about DONE for by day's end! Cankles are under control with daily walks now - hooray! - so my peeling fingertips are about the last thing to resolve this week.

m130: you said it! I was tempted to wait till sundown ... then go ring the bell of my nosy neighbor who WON'T leave me alone. Jump outta the bushes and yell, "BOO!" But I missed my chance .. and now look less scary with each day. That could be a good thing. :-)
