Guys:

This is great stuff - everything they say about it and better - I read the reviews on MUA - however they do say not to use it more than once a week or even a month and also not on "normal" undamaged hair - so since I have done everything on this planet to damage my hair this was the panacea I was seeking. My hair looks so "full" - its like each hair has been thickened - I guess it is supposed to "protienize" the hair and this is the effect - Maybe people with thin skimpy hair should give it a try - it is expensive though - $22.00 for 8.5 oz - but I think its well worth it - According to MUA it gets better as you continue to use it so I'm keeping my fingers and hairs crossed - LOL

I have some which I use after putting the chem straightener on my hair. It is a nice product.

Can hardly walk. Need hip replacement.

MissJ - where do you buy yours from?

Also I am thinking of getting Frederick Fekkai's shampoo and conditioner - I got a sample from Saks today - I also sampled his olive oil shine spray and liked it - it sort of gives a glitter to the hair - Saks has an awful return policy though - they don't take anything back unless you make a noise about it -

KK25 gave me some as a GIFT. It was GREAT because I NEVER used a good product on my hair before. I used it after I did my chemicals and it was nice. I wish they had a laser to make the hair follicles grow straight. I can only straighten 2X/year though as to not damage other part done.

Can hardly walk. Need hip replacement.

you might also like the Rusk sensories smoother conditioner(use small amount)
it is a leave in conditioner that works like magic to untangle hair, makes the hair really soft and easier to comb
works great on chemically treated/processed hair.

Joico and Rusk make some good products, also the Biolage conditioners are pretty good.

There's a bunch of hair care sites out there, this one has some good tips. http://longhair.org/HCP/oilpage.htm Jojoba oil is great but for me only works on new growth, like once I have messed it up, that's it. Stress & hair dye make my hair crappy.

m130 -

This site has some interesting articles in it - but I disagree with some points - like for example its been known for a while that brushing the hair is not good for the cuticles also I don't know if Jojoba oil has small enough molecules to penetrate the cortex - I have done a bit of research on "hair oiling" and coconut and olive oils are the ones that do the best job -

Larazelle, I use Frederic Fekkai's 'Shea butter' range, and love it! It works out to be quite cheap, since it is so concentrated :)

I'm going with the "olive oil" range - I've heard good things about it - and also I liked the olive oil shine spritzer - gonna buy it on Tuesday - will keep you posted -

I have medium/thick hair and because I dye it regularly it can be dry and coarse - actually the "brilliant glossing" is the one I will buy on Tuesday - but it is olive oil based if I'm not mistaken - why are you thinking of switching?

Yes, I think the brushing business is garbage, it just makes more hair damage. There used to be a better site out there called "long hair care" which talked about being careful when brushing/combing, like brushing out the ends first. There's still a site by that name, but it doesn't look like what I remember.

Maybe the heavier oils work well for thicker hair? I had a hard time dealing with the olive oil smell... I've been adding rose oil to jojoba, but I've been really bad about hair care lately. I think they were saying that jojoba is the closest thing to our own sebum.

At the Newport Beach surgery center, both times they put some kind of gunk in my hair which really junked it up. It made my hair impossible to brush without lots of damage. Anyone know what that stuff is? Some kind of antibiotic spray? I had temporal fascia out both times with staples, ugh.

I like the sound of this shea butter product, I need to look for that, thanks for the tip.

Larazelle, the shea butter products gave my hair a really amazing shine, but Im hoping that by changing to the 'glossing range' that I will get just a tad extra moisture as well.

I have quite long hair, and I wash it every day. After three months, Ive almost ran out of the conditioner and I have about 1/3 of the shampoo left!

I cant wait to hear what you think of it!

You have to stop washing your hair everyday - that is suicide for the hair - unless you exercise vigorously or for whatever reason your hair gets very dirty once or twice a week is fine - It's been a year that I have stopped washing my hair daily - and I notice a HUGE difference -

I agree. I have always heard and read from derms and hair experts that hair should not be washed daily. I've always had long hair and never found the need to wash it daily. There are days in summer where I have to wash almost daily, but I find that I can get away with rinsing well (only with water) on days when I don't use shampoo, and my hair remains in good condition despite highlighting/blow drying, etc. I also use a shower filter which helps alot.

Because my hair strands are so fine (and I have a ton of hair) my hair starts to look a little oily if it isn't washed every day. Surpisingly, its actually in excellent condition for being washed daily.

Ha, I got little samples of the Joico K-Pak Reconstruct and the Fekkai hiar mask with shea butter... very costly for the size (50 ml and 40 g) at $4.95 for the Joico, $8.50 for the Fekkai. I haven't tried them yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

I think the sales girl thought I was ignorant because I asked for the "Frederick FerRAkai" (oops).

I have friends with curly hair who SWEAR by not washing.

I just saw some of the Fekkai products at Tj Maxx (did not buy them)

samples you can them for free at the sephora store.

people with oily hair, sometimes need to wash it often otherwise the health of the scalp can become compromised.
just use nice shampoo and conditioner( just dont apply to the root area.)

Like Kimberly, my hair is baby fine and also long and I can attest to the fact that with this kind of hair you MUST wash every day. Fine hair is usually quite oily at the roots. If I were to go without washing my hair everyday, the roots would be very dirty looking while the ends would look fried. With my kind of hair the dirtier/oilier it looks the more damaged it looks. I once tried not washing my hair everyday and I looked so gross and unkempt...disgusting.
