She said she might be staying near the doctor's office. So, she might not have computer access.

Hi Bug:

I had CO2 on my face & neck twice and I remember getting a rash of sorts, but not as bad as your sounds. I hope you are doing better. Please check in when you can.

I PMd her but no response. The PM has not been picked up or opened yet. (Insert worried face).

DCNGA has left the board and is no longer taking PMs.

Do we think the doctor put her in a hospital for the rash, or she could be healing somewhere away from her puter until she gets better?

My guess would be no access to a computer, for whatever reason.

BugJune I hope you're okay. I found the following on potential allergic reaction to Aquaphor:

Possible Side Effects of Aquaphor
Although highly unlikely, Aquaphor could potentially cause allergic reactions. Signs of such reactions might include:

An unexplained rash or hives
Severe itching
Swelling of the mouth or throat
Wheezing or difficulty breathing.

That, I think, is an anaphylactic reaction (by description). I don't think that would be the case, thankfully, for Bug as the rash took several days to develop. It might be a mild allergic reaction, but hopefully nothing worse.

OMG. I have been to Hell and back. But I'm not out of it yet: the Devil still has my left foot.

I am so thankful for all your emails and kind words here! For some reason, my Sony VAIO will not let me respond to Inbox mail. Grrrr. If I ever get home, that prob will be fixed.

Brief update from dazed, confused and still hopeful on the outcome:
Monday - saw doc; he performed the vinegar/water treatment which felt great and cleaned all the crusty gunk off my face and neck. Sent back to hotel with sack of supplies. Noon: Threw my guts up. Barely in hotel room door. Incontrollable shaking from head to food. Squirts that wouldn't take no for an answer ... alllll night long.

Tuesday - No more nausea cuz I wasn't eating solid foods; squirts non-stop. Fever beginning to hike up to 101. Curled up in bed like a stunned monkey - but my faithful, caretaker husband did all the scraping, cleanings and re-applications of Aquaphor. Skin - independent of that lasered - was BRIGHT fuschia like a mad Polynesian hydrangea. WTF?

Wednesday - Fever at 102. Skin still glowing in the dark. Too stupid to do anything but wish it all away ... and wonder how both body and lasered areas were so inflamed?

Thursday. Fever at 103. It's time to face the music and get my unwashed a$$ to the doc come hell or high water. I spent 4.5 hours flat back in a chair, with first an IV that had antibiotic plus hydrating solutions and a pain killer; my face was slathered in the water/vinegar "mask". Turns out the doc did do a culture on some of that nasty stuff and it DOES require an antibiotic. I got one more looooooong-drip IV and was given an RX for my inflamed eyes (both) and an antibiotic. The doc can only speculate that I am that one-in-a-million who seems to be highly reactive to one key drug he had me taking beginning the day before my procedure: Valtrex. (Embarrassingly enuf, it's used to treat genital herpes, so I had quite a screwy smile on my face as I picked up the RX in my little town.) But I'd followed my doc's RX and took 2 pills a day for several days - that's about when the rash broke - which is a side effect. It's all a puzzle how I could be slam-banged with all these conditions when I just paid $3G to get my face and neck done.

Friday - Fever is gone. I had a follow-up app't with my doc who was pleased at the progress of my face and neck, but mystified as to the cause behind my body glow. It's more like systemic - almost autoimmune kind of thing. Perhaps it will fade away, but if not in a few days, I'll see a derm doc.

My eyes are dry as toast and my reading glasses askew and creamed over with gaddang Aquaphor. I shall go to my grave smelling putrified flesh mixed with that and the tang of vinegar! Definitely will have a very long tunnel to climb out of here. Will post again as energy and eyesight permit. I will most definitely post pix when I get home and get my shots onto my Mac. Thanks all for reading and DO share your suggestions.

I am SOOOOOO glad you are mostly okay. Sorry for all of these odd happenings! Valtrex is just in case you have a cold sore break out (which can happen under stress). You don't want that on top of the laser. But, if you're allergic then you're allergic! OUCH!

Keep up the vinegar soaks. They saved me! All the best!!!! Keep us updated.

OH, GAWD....SO HAPPY TO HEAR FROM YOU BUG!!! Wow...allergy to Valtrex (I've taken it for oral cold sores - it's powerful). Well....now we know for a fact that you are NOT secretly Paris Hilton...LOL!! *wink* But what an awful awful thing to go through, and we're just so glad you're gonna be OK. It WILL be OK. And you'll look fabulous when this is all over. Hang in there. Big hugs and heal up fast!!!

glad you are doing ok, hope you are feeling better. in case it helps, wanted to mention that if you don't see improvement after your doc d/c'd the meds you are allergic to, maybe also look at the antibiotics you are taking. are they sulfa drugs? some people are allergic to sulfa, main symptom is severe skin reaction. also, some antibiotics, if they cause severe digestive reactions and diarrhea, can in some (rare) cases cause a super bug and you can paradoxically become ill. taking probiotics can sometimes help to prevent or offset this. your doc probably already thought of all this, but just wanted to mention it in case it is of any help. feel better and good luck.
