Sadly, it's not just the celebs that get major retouching. Remember this Dove campaign with Real Women? They were all retouched extensively by retoucher to the stars, Pascal Dangin.

So retin A thickens skin? I thought it is known to thin the skin over time.

Retin A only thins the very top layer of the skin (stratum corneum) due to increased cell turnover. It actually thickens the lower layers of the skin (dermis) by stimulating new collagen and elastin fibres.
