When I complain to TT about the board not working efficiently, he just reminds me that it's a free board that I pay for without commercializing it. Then he points out my original request to him was that I wanted the board to be a type of 'refuge' for people in my DIRECT GRAPEVINE (like posters I have come to know over the years from other boards )to convene in the absence of corporate interference and then says; 'Noble goal to have. You achieved it'.

OK so the dilemma is finances. Like it's $75/hour for tech help from soft ware developers. Then comes the cost of increasing bandwidth from Go-Daddy. OK, so that's something I would consider footing the bill for to better accommodate people in my own grapevine I have come to know over the years. The dilemma is that I'm needing to do that because a lot of new sign ups, whom I have absolutely no past familiarity with, want to sign up here and want free membership and ANY hint from me of a request for $10 contribute just kicks up a headache.

What I will do is ask every new sign up (that I have no prior familiarity with) to contribute $10 to defray my costs. If they don't want to contribute that, then they won't be using any of my resources (bandwidth) to further slow down the board. If the do, I will be able to generate finances (without having to resort to commercialization!) to do the upgrades needed.

Presently new sign up is disabled which I think contributes to the board being LESS SLOW than prior and some other glitches by my own tech guy were fixed by him to make it go faster.

If anybody knows of any orthopedic doctors, in Boston or Concord MA area who are conversant in FEMORAL ACETEBULAR IMPINGMENT, please let me know.

Note: Board was really SLOW for me during cosmo/yatterman conflict. I have no idea if it has anything to do with anything but I'm just documenting slow times.

Well it's about 10 or so minutes since Miss J's post of slowness, the Cosmo/Y fracas is over and the board is still DEATHLY slow.

Also, upon scrolling to the very bottom of the page is this information. Maybe posting how long it takes a page to generate might also be helpful?

Yes, it's erratic as you say. But, maybe posting that is helpful? Not sure, really if it's useful or not.

And then I go to look at another thread and it is SLOOOOOOWWWWWW:

This page was generated in 21.047 seconds.

I'm learning not to say it's fast 'cause sure enough it will slow to a snail's pace.

Don't want to speak too soon but I may have done something to make it go faster. But I just have to wait it out to see if what I did had any effect or if it's just a coincidence that it's going faster or if it's going to go slow again after I say I think I did something to make it go faster. LOL

OK,
So it has been a week since I made the above last post. Sometime within that week, I did a bunch of 'tries' on my own to try to make board go faster; like non-technical things aimed at less bandwidth being used which were:

1: Taking some boards out of public viewing, which when you consider that there are 10 'guests' for every member at times of high use, bandwidth use by non members would tend to go WAY DOWN.
2: Re or 'de' ranked a lot of posters with the 'newbie' status to: 'unapproved; write to MissJ for approval'
Like there were a boat load of sign ups from LONG TIME AGO, in which the sign up COULD HAVE used their membership to post but didn't. So people with 'newbie' status for a long time, who had 0 posts to their name were deranked to 'unapproved'. Deranking 'old/outdated newbies' also cut down on bandwidth use because 'unapproved' status can't view all the boards.
3: A few 'old' newbies who had been signed on for a long time and never posted BUT used the board almost on a daily basis were just removed from the system altogether. I did that because I was concerned that a possible problem with board slowness had to do with some attempted malicious code being written somewhere given that the slowness was coincident with an error message that effectively said that with EACH POST made; someone or something was trying to send out an e-mail with unacceptable code that was REJECTED by the system to even transmit. I'm not saying I tracked the problem to their use. Just sayin' their use was in no way possible any benefit to the board.
4: I noticed some 'key words' that were bringing people to my site BUT , in no way were they keywords, that I, myself would want as key words. Got irked they were keywords and just spelled the things backwards on here.

OK, so, I do all that and find the site DID run faster. Then Tech Teddy calls me to say HE also did something to make it run faster and NOW the ERROR MESSAGE that was coincident with it running slowly is GONE.

Looks to me like it's running much faster now. But of course with my kind of 'fluke timing', it seems like people seem to post alot when it's running slow and people aren't posting as much when it's faster LOL

Anyway, can I get some feedback whether or not it's running faster for people????

If anybody knows of any orthopedic doctors, in Boston or Concord MA area who are conversant in FEMORAL ACETEBULAR IMPINGMENT, please let me know.
