I'm using Aquafresh Ultimate White right now, but want to get one with peroxide. There aren't very many that have it though- Rembrandt and Plus White. Big difference in the cost of these 2- PW is half the price. Does the peroxide make that much difference?

Plain baking soda . Then hold some hydrogen peroxide in mouth for a min or so. Then just brush teeth with any toothpaste for a refreshing 'flavor'.

If anybody knows of any orthopedic doctors, in Boston or Concord MA area who are conversant in FEMORAL ACETEBULAR IMPINGMENT, please let me know.

Cancel above request. My hip is now too far gone. Need a total hip replacement.

Thanks MissJ- will try that trick. I just want to go as far with toothpaste before I start using my trays- hate doing those for some reason. I'm only going to do them for only 20 mins I think- so annoying and I have plenty of whitener that is supposed to be strong.

I also just put a capfull or two of 3% hydrogen peroxide in my mouth. Then step into the shower, and while bathing, I just vigorously swish the peroxide in my mouth a good 3-5 min (longer is better), then spit it out. If you do this every day for 4-5 days in a row, you should see noticeable whitening.

If you have money to burn AND are in to pain and suffering, go the BriteSmile route. I did that right after getting my braces removed at age 47. You sit in a chair facing a TV screen. Yes, they'll even tune in to your favorite show for the next hour. You get a protective covering on the gums, and the gel right on your chops, and for the next hour, a UV lamp is pointed at your mouth.

Oh. You also get to hold a "panic" button, just in case you start to feel some discomfort. And my finger was halfway down on that button right at the top of the hour when my treatment ended. For the next day, you get lightening bolts of CRUMPLING pain - a mere nano-second's flash at a time, every few minutes. And you can't eat any colored food for 24 hours, cuz your protective pelicle (formed by saliva) has been stripped away from your teeth.

But ye gods, I had the whitest teeth ever. So much so, that even a week later, I was at a winery renowned for their reds, bellied up to the bar, and the gal tried to talk me out of tasting, just looking at my TEETH. True story.

I think I'm going to try this, b/c my teeth are stained yellow from coffee.

MissJ, how long do you brush with baking soda for and how many times/day?

Has anyone tried whitening using a lower end concentration (~16%) of carbamide peroxide? How did it compare to a baking soda/hydrogen peroxide home remedy?

Thanks.

I've had good luck with a Sonicare. My dentist likes me to use Colgate Total, so I get the whitening kind. Sonicare says to use gel paste with their brushes.

carbomide peroxide would also work.

Have not kept track of time I do it. But 2X a day and then with the tooth paste.

I haven't tried the baking soda yet, but I did swish with 3% hydrogen peroxide for 60 seconds. I was surprised to see how much improvement there was after only one application. My teeth aren't bright white, but all the yellowing from the coffee stains which I thought would take several days or weeks to remove, is now gone.

Crest Vivid White and Vivid White Night work well for me, along with Pro White Strips every 6 months.

I bought 5 syringes of 30% carbamide peroxide from dentist.net, it was $40 with shipping. They sell trays, too, but I used some standard trays from a Rembrandt kit.
