I am afraid it is a little bit off topic here but that happened to me out of the blue. It just seems such a coincidence but I used a little Vitamin E cream for a second to lighten a little under one eye and bam, my eye lid got red and swelled up right away. The cream was no more than 15 seconds on my skin but from that day forward it has been already almost 2 months my eyelid gets red and and swells up almost every day. I am not sure what causes it but it has definetely nothing to do with eye itself, it is the skin. I tried everything, nothing helps besides hydrocortisone cream but I cannot use it all the time.Does anybody know what to do, I am at the end of my rope, it looks pretty bad and I forgot to mention that it itches and burns.

Maybe try some Benadryl for a few days (you can get topical or take it by mouth)? Could be an allergy of some sort. Or, try your derm just to be sure.

Go to an ophthalmologist, and drink plenty of water.

Thank you guys. I started on Zyrtek, so far no improvement, I have to agree with KK25, there might be something more serious.I had bleph 5 years ago and ongoing chemosis for a long time. Also, I was left with underskin knots from cantho which was undissolved sutures.I was told by several doctors to leave it alone as it could have been scar tissue around them. I made a peace with them eventhough they were visible under overhead light and also palpable.I just resently noticed that the knot by this particular eye is gone, but not by the other eye.Does it something to do with my problem?

I'm no doc, but I was told that Vit E can provide a rich environment for bacteria. You might want to toss that cream. I'd avoid any Vit E cream or oil TFN. The instant redness and puffiness sure looks like it's irritation of some sort. Also, the fact that one has to apply some creams with the FINGERS is problematic. Unless you apply eye creams with a sterile Q-tip or rubber gloved hand, you run the risk of applying infection right along with the cream. I Bug U

Natasha, I've always loved that name, btw...
What were the ingredients of the rest of the cream the E was in? Could there be something in that?

You guys are hilarius. Well, I used vitamin E cream for a few brief seconds but it was enough to screw up my skin. I do not think that is it, even though it might trigerred it but i already started on the second eye lid too. I have been to ophtalmologist, got the allergy drops, does not help. Next step is a doctor who treats general allergies. Ah, I am so tired of this crap.
