For all the other makeup junkies on the board, I just got the 2 incredible eyeshadow palettes I ordered today. If you love eye shadow (which doubles as liquid liner with an angled brush and some Visine), check this out http://www.bhcosmetics.com/?action=Products. I got the 120 palette first edition and the 88 neutral palette and am so in love after playing with them all afternoon. They also have the 88 shimmer and 88 matte palettes like the cult company Coastal Scents, they are the exact same thing, just a few bucks cheaper. So much fun, and to get all these colors would cost thousands at MAC.

I gave up on palettes.
I can't do color or shimmer on eyes, just matte neutrals. Anything else makes me extremely self-conscious. But I've found a good cheap alternative to MAC with the NYX eyeshadow singles. I bought most of the matte neutrals in that line and they were about the same as the cost of two MAC eyeshadows. They are very highly pigmented and last all day.
Haven't found an alternative to the MAC lipsticks, though and I am still lusting after about a dozen of them--pale neutrals and pinks with minimal or no shimmer/frost/glitter. Plus I love the vanilla smell/taste of them. Still waiting for their annual 25% discount family/friends day. It hasn't happened this year yet but there's still hope.
I really wish I didn't care about lipstick.

I really wish I didn't care about lipstick. I can do color, but I am so white I have to be careful with it or else I look like a hooker circa 1985. For really bright colors I will just mix them into a liquid liner and brush them along the lashline (I also like to do a fine line of either black or dark brown along the lashline too with this technique, it makes it more wearable and flattering IMO). You might like the neutral palette, the colors are really flattering and mostly either matte or satin. I agree, good cheap lipstick is tough to find. Nothing really comes close to MAC, Bobbi Brown, Stila, Nars, YSL or Bare Essentials. One thing I like to do is mix blush (I like Nars in Deep Throat best on me) with a little gloss to make my own lipstick. Have you joined MAC pro? You get a discount all the time if you join, plus exclusive pro products and shades.

I cant wear eyeshadow either make my eyes look really bad, very sunken in , maybe if I had fat graph to the area would be possible to use/wear some eyeshadow. -There is another discount for the Pro at Mac, if you are a Student or Beautician you can get discount, from what I can remember the one for hairdressing/make up artist is 40% not sure how much for the student

I do colour on my eyes, but only in matte, like you, kosmeds. You got to be young to wear metallics/frost on the eyelid skin. I can get away with a little glitter on the inner corner of the eye for a night out. Theatrical make-up such as Leichner (sp?).
I love MAC too, and can't find anything over here to compete. It's the complexity of the colours. Nothing ever ends up looking like you think it will, nor does it ever have just one tone. At least not in the stronger colours. I love Urban Decay's intensity, but it spills everywhere, as it has so few binding agents.
I don't like 'proper' lipstick, as I think it's ageing - in general. I prefer lip gloss, or all-over lip pencil with MAC Lip Glass over it.
I don't like MAC's prices, but I buy them off eBay. They're about half price then.

Creme d'Nude, Blankety, Shy Girl, and Creme Cup are all fantastic lipsticks for "my lips but better." They are all on the pale nude side.

I just looked them up and they are pretty but alas, they are too opaque, cool and pale for me. They would be fantastic for someone with little natural lip color and a not too light skintone, but not for those who are ultra fair with naturally pink lips. Mac Lip Gelée in Slicked Pink and Lip Glass in Ember Glow and Nymphette are my MAC favorites. I also love Bare Escentuals Buxom Lip Gloss in Amber.
