I recently took pics outside of myself, I WAS MORTIFIED!! I looked like grandpa munster. How come I look at some pics and I look pretty good and these shots my nose looked like a BIRDS BEAK !! My nose is actually turned up but in these I guess the sun was accentuating my bridge making it look hooked. Also I was squinting so bad my eyes were all little. How can I stop squinting in the sun like that in pics ? BOtox doesnt work for me do I need a brow lift. My nose omg how come in some pics it looks really turned up and some long and hooked . My nose looks like Tabitha from Tabitha's salon take over , I LOVE Tabitha but I hear people say she is funny looking . I have to make a joke about this so I dont cry.

Pictures often distort. Don't worry about it! I have taken pics of myself where I look exactly like Bart Simpson...but I don't....I hope, lol

is hard to give you advice without seeing picture, maybe if you posted them we will be more capable of helping you find why the pictures look so different.

Take millions of pictures of yourself. I find the laptop picture application the best...I'm on a Mac, so that's PhotoBooth and iPhoto although they're not releasing them as easily as earlier versions-get whatever PC equivalent exists?
I have a window that gets a lot of light. I take pictures there a lot, wouldn't even think of going outside to squint in the sun (which I would, or ruin the effect w/ dark glasses:)

Girl, most folks who take their OWN pictures on a bright, sunny day would be similarly mortified. First off, let me guess: you used your cell phone? OK, maybe you have a tiny digital camera and held it up, pointing somewhat at your face, kinda sorta. Second: you stood facing the HOT, BRIGHT sun. If you didn't squint, you'd need to see an eye doc cuz you'd be blind. Third: Shadows. Yes, the harsh sun plays tricks. You can't help but look menacing and Munster-ish with BLACK and WHITE shadows zigzagging all over your face in the noonday sun. Similar to standing in a closet with a flashlight shining up at your, um beak. Don't try it, or you'll get discouraged all over again. I've seen that shot of you (eyes, nose) posted on a different thread, and don't see the Tabitha thing at all with your nose. Solution: NEVER take your own pix. Get a friend to do it. Or at least sit inside, by a window with filtered, natural daylight to soften the harsh shadows. Camera should either be mounted on a tripod or somehow fixed (like a laptop on a table) for maximum stability. ============================= aphrodite wrote:I recently took pics outside of myself, I WAS MORTIFIED!! The best light for portraiture is diffuse -- at dawn and dusk.

If you want to prevent crows feet or reduce/prevent worsening of lines you already have ( thou they are not as bad as you think) always use sunglasses in the sun. Everyone squints in the sun, and squinting over time contributes to crows feet, in addition to sun depleting the collagen around eyes slowly.

Other than sunrise and sunset there ain't no way ANYONE is taking a picture of me outside. AND the person taking the photo is gonna' have to be a professional, one with lights, proper reflectors, etc.
Looking at myself outside is just too much. No, no, no, no.
Everyone, even a sixteen year old, is going to look harsh in full sunlight.

I had professional headshots taken outside and the photographer kept me out of direct sunlight and used reflective boards to diffuse the natural light around me. when you see outdoors scenes in mags, etc, they are doing the lighting themselves too.
