The reports said it was 'cardiac arithmia' (sp?). From my reading of the reports (the links of them are in this string), they did not attribute 'causality' to the surgery. Like they are not saying R 'killed them'. It's more of a thing where IN LIGHT of the deaths, the med board took a CLOSER LOOK as to how R's practices of very long surgeries actually RELATED to the type of facility he had. In essence, he did not have the type of facility or back ups in order to justify any decision on his part to perform surgeries in excess of 8 hours or so and they deemed the deaths as relating to R's bad judgement to perform these long surgeries without the needed emergency back ups in order.

No, the patients did not bleed to death.

Do we know WHY patient A and B died? Did they bleed to death? Did the long amount of time being "under" shut down their systems?

So, no e-mails or PMs to me until I can remove this message. I have no idea what the problem is. It started with Google Chrome not loading any pages for me. TT helped to uninstall but ran out of time and it would not re-install. CAn't explain the computer problem other than to say I'ts hard for me to access the net or my site.

Well, I don't think that is what the 2008 info states. It says that 1/8th STATEWIDE in FL do not have malpractice insurance. That's a far cry from 80% and I don't think that it would have jumped that much in three years or so. It says 25% in one county, 30% in one city and then 1/8th statewide.

Quote:
Nearly one-quarter of doctors in Broward and Palm Beach counties, more than one-third in the Miami area, and one-eighth statewide opt out of malpractice insurance under a state law that lets them go without coverage, a state physician database shows.

OK, 1/8th= 12% of ALL docs practicing in FLA which yes, is far cry from 80% of ALL docs in FLA.

Now, I'm being hypothetical here but what if the 12% not having med mal prac consisted of docs doing "cosmetic" stuff. So, maybe the 80% referred to docs doing cosmetic stuff.

Now, I don't take 80% as 'exact' percentage but I took it to mean that 'most' docs doing cosmetic stuff in FLA don't have med mal practice or took it to mean that FLA is a place where it is quite easy and even tempting for docs not to take out med mal practice and set up shop there FOR THAT REASON.

Percentages aside, I guess the salient thing to consider here is that FLA is a LAX state with regard to medical mal practice insurance because they do have a law (loop hole) which allows docs to go without coverage. Hence, it attracts docs wanting to go without coverage to set up shop there.

Very true, Miss J.

Someone sent me a PM on MMH with the title "Dr. Ramirez". I assume they have been reading here and for some reason sent me a message there (maybe they are not a member here but can read this section?). MMH site has a virus. Each time I go there my anti-virus throws the virus warning, so everyone be aware they have a virus. Thought it was a fluke first time I got it, but it happened again when I went to read this message. It is some type of exploit script so be very careful if you are using MMH.

MMH had that before and I did get a virus from there.
Ya, 'exploit script' is a good term for it. Some of their advertisers (and they have a lot) put mal ware or spy ware in there. I have NORTON. Do you think that will help protect a visit there?

I'm not sure what all Norton protects. I use AVG Professional version with Online Shield so it immediately detects and blocks virus. It is Script Exploit.B that it blocked. I would stay clear until you talk to TT to see if you are protected.

Miss J, I have the free AVG protection and that flags up the threat and deals with it.

TT told me before to not visit MMH because it had that 'stuff' in it. But I though norton was supposed to protect from that.

^^^Hmmm, this whole MMH virus is interesting. I received a few real looking fake LinkedIn invitations from someone I was emailing from MMH.
I never opened any links in the emails. I wonder if it has anything to do with this virus.
I have a MAC and I am never warned of any virus when I'm on there.

I'm on a Mac, too, we don't get a lot of viruses since the majority are made for Windows.

I sent MMH an email about it yesterday and the virus is still present. Don't think they really care as long as they're making $$.
