It's that time of year...gingerbread martini time.
My heartburn issues are better so why not screw them up again?!?!?!!
Although I posted this a year ago thought I would repost. Here's the recipe for those who missed it last year...
1 ounce Ketel One vodka 1 ounce Baileys Irish Cream liqueur 1/2 ounce Kahlúa liqueur 1/2 ounce Monin gingerbread syrup (I use the Starbucks gingerbread syrup instead) 1/2 scoop vanilla ice cream — semi-melted Whipped cream Gingerbread cookie (Pepperidge Farms put these out this time of year)
Think I will make one in about an hour or two....

sounds like it might be all the sugar that exacerbates the gerd (vs. the alcohol)..
I have terrible GERD, but with prevacid and eating well/right I'm still able to drink wine/alcohol...

My new gastro doc was able to get my insurance to approve the generic of Prilosec and I've been taking it instead of OTC Prevacid. I had been taking OTC Prevacid for a long time at least twice a day. It helped but I still could not risk anything that would aggravate the gerd. So, went to a new gastro doc who stayed after my insurance company (letter/appeal) until they approved the generic Prilosec. It has made a vast improvement and is so much less expensive than the OTC Prevacid was. I now get 90 days for $28 opposed to double that per month for the OTC Prevacid I was having to take.
This will only be my second adventure with alcohol since I started taking the Prilosec in early December. We'll see....
Oh, sugar has never bothered my gerd in the least---unfortunately!

Sounds like a dessert with a 'buzz' to it cuz of alcohol content.

It is mighty sweet. One is all I could do because of how sweet they are. Cosmopolitans are more my style, to be honest. Or just Vodka and cranberry juice. However, I only have a drink about four times a year so it was fun to have dessert in a glass this go-round.

Baileys is amazing stuff. Great in coffee after dinner, or just pour some in your coffee while driving to work in the morning. ( I kiiid, I kiiid!)

Ya. Something with a LOT of FAT and SUGAR in it. Maybe attach some cute plastic pink handcuffs to it and call it "Cardiac Arrest". aphrodite wrote:Lol Ryan I put it in my hubby's coffee one morning :). He said it tasted great. ! I would like to try this recipe as an ice cream. I'd replace the the vanilla ice cream with milk, heavy cream and an egg yolk and throw it in my ice cream maker. The alcohol in the recipe would prevent ice crystals from forming. Then crumble the gingerbread cookie on top. Yum yum. Either way, it sounds decadent and delicious.

Too funny! Very clever! Isn't grenadine red? You can color your drink up with that--it is pomegranate syrup. You could get cinnamon schnapps, grenadine, put some vodka in it, along with some sweet and sour mix maybe and call it Tart and Spicy or Sweet Tart Sweetheart. My best friend is a bartender, I'll ask her for an idea for you.

Thanks, I used to 'design' drinks. Like make up a recipe and a name to go with it. Two of the drinks I came up with were for a client who wanted to market his brand of Walnut liquor. For him, I had the "Tipped Sombrero" (where you just replace his walnut liquor for the Tia Maria) and the "Nutty Russian" where you use the Black Russian recipe but replace it with the walnut liquor. Lol, I love it! I wish I wasn't such a sick/cheap drunk so I could try the gingerbread martini- it sounds amazing. Aphrodite maybe try a creamy pink cinnamon martini with edible silver glitter and cinnamon hearts? It would look pretty.
