This is probably well-known over in Europe ... but I just read a story about the Poly Implant Prothese (PIP) breast implants that appear to be rupturing at a higher rate than implants by other manufacturers: http://tinyurl.com/82y8fnv.

I'm amazed that in France, the gov't will actually pay women to get these implants removed. Now the U.K. is demanding to know the rupture rate. Some 70,000+ women in just these two countries alone have the implants. But tens of thousands of women outside of France and U.K. have the implants.

And, um, I'm no scientist, but it appears that PIP used "industrial grade" silicone in their implants to save money.
So if the implants leak, it's not clearly known what that kind of goop will do to a person's body.

Do you ever get the feeling that the whole globe has gone "Third World"?

I think the whole globe is greedy. Greed will be the downfall of mankind IMO.

I think they figure it's cheaper to remove them now as opposed to the health problems that would develop with a ruptured implant.
