i think as we get older we become more free and things that we stressed over when we were younger no longer bother us as much.

I can't think of a thing, except I guess I am wiser in that I have learned a few lessons. But looks-nah. All downhill!

Age has taught me that 'things' don't matter nearly as much as I once thought they did and they certainly can't provide long-lasting happiness.

On the flip-side, my body has taught me I'm not young anymore (sigh).

While the outside deteriorates the inside improves....and, thankfully, life gets much easier.

Hate to be a kill joy but I got arthritis on my 56th birthday with labral tears to the hip joints. So, can't say my 'insides' are improving. I'd have more to add IF this string were about the bad stuff about aging. LOL

NOTICE:

I'm having COMPUTER PROBLEMS and can hardly get on the internet or get to my e-mail. It's taken me like 6 hours just today to try to post this message. So, no e-mails or PMs to me until I can remove this message. I have no idea what the problem is. It started with Google Chrome not loading any pages for me. TT helped to uninstall but ran out of time and it would not re-install. CAn't explain the computer problem other than to say I'ts hard for me to access the net or my site.

I couldn't think of anything when I first saw this thread. Today at the deli, I realized one nice thing about aging, unrelated to one's own looks, though. The young man behind the counter was just cute as can be, probably in college. He completed my order and was sooo sweet, perfect manners, eye contact. I was thinking "This is an exceptionally handsome young man." I could intuit he was a good kid, you could tell he has no idea yet that in about 10 years he'll be able to pick and choose. Just one of those, many of you might know what I'm talking about. Handsome and humble about it, not the first thing, if you will. I took my deli package and just blurted out (quietly as possible though, didn't want to embarrass him) "You are just a very good looking young man, and so nice! Stay that way." My teen daughter caught my arm, having heard the tail end, and nearly died, of course. She said, "MOM, that was totally a tacky cougar move, GEEZ!" (don't you love this vernacular, I swear, I hate cougars-sorry cougars!) I explained to her, "Honey, you know, the great thing about my age is you can pull off stuff like that, because you just DO NOT CARE!" SO, I think that is one of the best things about being older. Kind of liberating, and you get to make someone's day, hopefully.

A man's testicles tend to droop a little lower with age. Some may like this, some may not.

I have fine, dark blonde hair (although less of it lol). The grey makes my hair look lighter and perhaps a teeny bit fuller.

that's because you begin to recognize, consciously or unconsciously, how fast time moves. and how the days of you, and everyone around you are numbered. tick, tick tick.

because of that recognition of time, you begin to prioritize what you spend your time doing, what you worry about, and who you spend your time with.

youth is bliss because ignorance is bliss. age is bitter sweet...it should be if you've truly lived.

I feel more contented. I went through a stage when i thought i may be missing some experience and i only had a limited time to do those things, while i was youthful. My insecurities always meant I wanted financial independance so I was always very careful with money, but now I like to indulge because I wonder how much longer I have to do it. Also my children are older and not so reliant which is nice. I still like to look good but I accept perfection is not necessary or attainable.
