I finally went and completed my dental work in Mexico. It was around $740.00 for the implant post and crown and all 4 wisdom teeth extracted. I had the airfare free. Hotel was 60.00 and one night free in Mexico. And the rental car was 214.00 with insurance. Gas was expensive 60.00 total.
I couldn't get the root canal and crown bc I didn't quite have enough saved. So they gave me a temp filling and told me if I ever had a problem with that tooth to take antibiotics immediately as it is infected.
I was shocked though regarding my wisdom teeth. I knew that one of my wisdom teeth had abscessed, but all of them had deep cavities and he showed me on the computer xrays where I had pockets of infection on more than one. To the naked eye the other teeth looked normal, but when he pulled them the sides that were up against my jaw - were rotten. When he pulled the one that had abscessed pus started running out.
It upset me so because I had begged dentists to pull those teeth long before now.
The cool thing is that it took maybe 15 minutes to pull them out. They came right out without a lot of pulling. He took something and dug around the gum grabbed these small tong looking things rocked back and forth and then I heard a crack and they came out.
So far I have had no pain- just some irritation and itching. The blood stopped the same day and I felt kind of sleepy and naseasous (sp) the same day. Otherwise I am fine.
The crown had to be shaved a lot to make it fit in my mouth and with my other teeth. It looks ok and it is functional. I was so hungry by the third day I ate some chicken and a handful of nuts. I know its bad, but I couldn't help it. So it works and it feels ok as far as bite.
But...
My face did not realign as I thought it would. It seems as if the asymmetry is more noticeable. I am still swollen but the left jaw including chin is still smaller than the right and it seems as if my upper jaw wants to sit to the left while my lower jaw wants to sit to the right of my upper jaw.
It is taking a bit for me to learn how to hold my lips. They suggested braces, but I don't want a full mouth of braces just for 3 teeth. All my teeth at the bottom on both sides are straight. All teeth on the top right are straight. It is the two teeth at the top on the left- the 2nd and third tooth from the center front tooth that have slightly shifted forward. They need to be pulled backwards. The third tooth has shifted inward. It needs to be pulled out slightly towards my jaw. There has got to be a better alternative to this than a full mouth of braces.
Perhaps this is something Miss I can help me figure with my face surgery? I didn't have much swelling at the beginning, but today I look like I have a touch of elephantitis. Even my lips are a bit swollen - which I kind of like as I have the pouty thing going on.
I just wanted to report to all of you and let your know that everything went well.
And thank you to everyone who gave suggestions and helpful advice!

You are lucky you have not been unwell with all the stuff going into your system. It is great you have had all that work done on your teeth.

My mother said the same thing- that all of the infection could have really spread throughout my body or something to that effect. I am glad I had this taken care of. Thank you for your advice and for sharing your experience.

i read your last thread and this one - not sure if i have all the details straight but it sounds like you still have an infected tooth (or teeth?) You need to think about taking care of that first before anything aesthetic.
braces are a much better alternative than surgery. realignmnent of the teeth even for a simple (not too much movement) case takes months, so you shouldn't expect to see changes in your face so soon from having those teeth pulled. you are still swollen and your teeth will now have to adjust again.
it's never just a couple of teeth - it's your entire arch that makes the couple of teeth not look good/be aligned.

The one that needs a root canal. I will definitely take care of that. I just need to save up some more before doing it. I think in my case, even after the braces - I am looking at some of the clear ones like Damon, Simpli 5 etc vs invisalign - I will still need surgery on one or both of my jaws. I am not sure, but something happened to that left jaw and it is much smaller and the angle is very different from the right one. Its like so many cms of the jawline are gone. I will say this, you are correct about the swelling. My mother is of the opinion that my lips and bite have realigned some for the better. She says that she notices that my left side still looks atrophied a bit, but my mouth looks straighter when closed. So if she is correct that is definitely a good thing. Thanks for your comment and sharing your thoughts...

When you remove a tooth or a few teeth the gums/ jaw / bone where the tooth was before will shrink. It`s because the bone is held together by the fact that the root is present. Also the remaining teeth will start moving immediately with the new space. Good luck with getting rid of all the infection I hope you get well soon.
Edited to add that our teeth and mouths are continuously moving and /or wanting to move as we age even if we dont get teeth removed. The lowers are especially known to shift.
