Latest consult suggested TCA peel to soften wrinkles under eyes with transconjunctival lower bleph. Good or bad?

Helped some, but not a great deal. First time when I was younger (38 or so) it helped more than a couple of years ago when I had it done again. Quite honestly, the laser helped more but only for about 18 months and I was back where I started--and I had Erbium. Of course the resulting bags from the laser were not worth the lessening of lines for a whole year and a half.

I'm curious to know what strength he's proposing.

OK. I love my transconjunctival bleph. I might need a bit of filler there now (it has been nearly 20 years). But really liked the change it made. Don't know about the peel, though, so can't comment. Keep me in the loop:) cybergirl wrote:Latest consult suggested TCA peel to soften wrinkles under eyes with transconjunctival lower bleph. Good or bad?

A medium facial peel is between 25-35% (TCA).

I like mine too. My God paul, did you have it done when you were a toddler? Eight years for me, I have some hollowing too but I'm not sure if I want to get on the filler treadmill. Can't help you with the peel either.

Any one know if TCA is ok for very thin skin? I did see a couple of good before and afters on make me heal , but every one heals different. If I were you I would start out light peel first just to test the waters see how you react. I'd rather be safe than sorry you can always go back at a later date and do a moderate peel.

Thanks for all the responses. Hmmm...never thought about asking him what strength he would be using. I will ask. Is TCA the one that leaves your skin white for a while?

Yes, it 'frosts'. But to get the most effective frost and to promote better post-procedure healing you need to be using Retin-A or Taz for six weeks prior. My derm can even tell by how it frosts whether or not you've used the Retin-A/Taz pre-peel for long enough. I can't get away with a thing!

Hey DC, what's recovery like? I mean if they just did the undereye it shouldn't be much of anything, right? Does it actually even peel there? I did it years ago, but ended up with so many burst capillaries that I had to have them lasered. I don't remember much else, though. Is it especially effective?

very kind Stache. i was in my mid-twenties. i think it is a very elegant operation: natural looking, no visible scar, rapid healing. stache wrote:

You do risk broken caps with peels and some lasers as well. After I had my first peel and long before I knew about the risks of lasers, I had a large broken cap on the side of my nose (after the first peel). I went in and they zapped it with a V-Beam and it was gone. I had no broken caps from the last peel two years ago. The recovery time is about ten days but your under eye area can be pinkish for six weeks or so - at least it was for me. My pink from my last peel only lasted two weeks this last time, even with solid Co2 applied. Yes, it does peel (or did for me) under the eyes. However, I didn't find the difference two years ago worth the trouble other than on my decollete area and neck. It worked great for those areas and only so-so for my face. As I've said, it worked great for me the first time in my late 30's.

I had the peel on my whole face. Helped a bit but nothing dramatic....like someone else said. Something you might want to do every year. Mine was not that bad to start...just a tiny bit of creepiness...that is still not that bad. I was going to have another peel on my whole face but the cost was too much. First time around the surgeon threw it in for only $300 for whole face.
