When I first saw her (not knowing who she was) my first thought was she looks a bit freaky. But then finding out she is coming up for 90...WOW...that changes everything! Her skin is amazing and she looks far far younger than her chronological age despite the obvious surgical appearance.

All the PS does at that age with that type of 'involution' is reupholster the depleted soft tissue envelope more snugly against the
resorbed (depleted and changed) bone structure. What she has is what I call the 'well groomed aged face'. You still see the aging and you see the plastic surgery that attempts to address the aging. But it's not a thing that restores the look of youth that one had prior.

Note how her eyes are more rounded where as in youth, they were long and narrow horizontally. With aging, especially at 87, there is just inherent distortion of aging that has already taken place BEFORE any face lift. The distortion of aging is still there. What Plastic surgeons usually do in face lifts is just REARRANGE the distortion that has already happened with aging. The rearrange it so the persons face is not drooping, sagging and wrinkling. They 'reupholster' what was drooping, sagging and wrinkling which is basically a collapsed soft tissue envelope hanging over a depleted and distorted bone structure (aging skull)in which case you get a 'well groomed' skeletal look where the soft tissue is no longer hanging over the aged facial bones. To most people, the 'smoothness' they kick up in that regard looks better than the aged face bones with hanging depleted soft tissue. But for the most part, a face lift can look like that on an older person.

Ya, youth is always going to look better. But I think what we are looking at here has more to do with the aging process than it has to do with the failure of the PS. She certainly looks better than most 87 year olds who don't get any PS and has the well groomed dignified look of someone who makes their aging look better but of course not the look of someone who is 'young'.

Think those are some excellent points Miss J!

She looks so distorted because she had skin cancer and they had to cut out a large piece of skin from the middle of her face.

At least that's what it says in the above article.

That article explains a lot. I think that she is telling the truth, too. When you look at the third picture on page one of this thread, you can see scars along her lower cheeks/nasolabial fold area. Kudos to her for also admitting to other plastic surgery over the years.

If you cover half of her face, the left side looks good, (her left side) except for the "pull" on the outside of the nose by the base. the right side cheek is just much too low. It is a shame that can't be brought up to match the left.....then I don't think you could ask for more at 87!

If she is speaking the truth about her skin cancer surgery and reconstruction, then that's probably the best she is going to get, especially at 87.

Agree. I was wondering if the doc stitched a 3-inch wide Ace bandage from ear to ear. Under the skin, o'course, so it don't show. I'll take my full face wrinkles at 87 to this kind of pulled look.

Maybe she looks better in real life. She is 87 I think?, and maybe she looks good for 87, but she looks disfigured to me. I just see lopsided cheeks, and pulling and a disintegrating nose.
