I guess this is a product mention. Feel free to move the post.

This anesthesiologist strongly believes patients request a brain monitor during surgery to prevent brain damage.
He created a non-profit foundation to educate Americans to protect their brains if they need to 'go under' for surgery.
Not sure if I'd cancel surgery if they didn't use one. He explains in video.

Brain damage happens if oxygen does not reach brain in time. The French (used to don't know if they still do) use a 'smart drug' called; "Hydergene" during the surgery which will help deliver oxygen to the brain in the event the oxygen stops for a short while.

This is really beyond stupid. The device looks like it's a Barbie and Ken EEG with a couple of leads in the frontal region. This is so simple it will just tell if you are alive or dead.
Non profit? Something tells me this guy owns the patent on the machine and the sales are his profit. For Gods sake don't anaesthesiologists make enough money.
Enough of my nattering nabob of negativism, Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Ya, I suspect similar. Thought there were already devices in place to check brain activity though.
