Yes, it was full. She was attacked by a chimp and lost more than half of her face. I don't know if there are any pics of her out there of what she looked like after the attack and before the face transplant. She wore a big hat before with a scarf draped over it like a beekeeper's hat to hide her face. She is totally blind from the attack.

Oh my, here is how she looked:

Yikes I was unprepared for her after attack, but before transplant pic. So sad for her blindness, but truly an amazing result.

The doctors that rebuilt her face are truly amazing. I was really shocked too, but intrigued by how clever the restoration was.It would take a great deal of strength of character to emotionally survive this kind of trauma. I wonder if she is able to cope?

She has had done several interviews, on Oprah and The Today Show. She's been amazingly calm and resilient. She has a late teen daughter and I think that has helped her push on. Her speech was impaired but now that her face has been rebuilt, perhaps she is able to speak more clearly. I believe she lost both hands, along with her face and eyesight, yet she seems to simply be grateful to be alive. We should all have such spirit and strength of character.

Agree, but often it takes a life altering event to bring out those qualities.

Wouldn't it be nice though if it didn't take something so totally life altering to make us stronger and better people?

The transplant looks really good. She has really been through a lot and seems to be pulling through well.

I recently saw a TV show in the UK which told her story...she is incredibly calm and strong. If i remember correctly they did a hand transplant at the same time but unfortunately this was not succesful. She has a very supportive teenage daughter , she found it difficult to look at her mother prior to the surgery so the benefit of the surgery has been of immense benefit to both of them.

That is truly amazing we have come this far medically. I wish they had surgery to restore her site. Don't know how she is so calm about all of this.I wonder if she is on antidepressants ? Or do you think some thing happened to her mentally after the attack. I am happy for her and hope they can help her with her hand. She is an amazing woman

I recall that tragic story about how her friend's chimp just went berserk on her. It disturbed me for days thinking how one twist of fate could utterly destroy the lives of these women. But Ms. Nash blows me away with her inner strength, perseverance and faith. I can not even begin to imagine what a long road to recovery she had with just the face transplant. I hope that even if she is blind she can feel the transformation of her features now, and know that she looks pretty ok. I guess she even lost a hand - or both - in the attack.

I hope I don't have a nightmare tonight, cuz I still just deeply question whatever holds our world together that could possibly allow such an event to take place.
