Ya, the interview you cited has the CNN guy kind of 'going after' him, I guess for 'quack' type stuff or at least non FDA type therapy. So, now a gal has died under this doc (but she could have been lost cause to begin with --who knows--) and it looks like the CNN guy want to continue what he started up with this doc.

The baby had Tay-Sachs. It's genetic and no cure, certain death. That's why the parents tried the treatment and Dr F said it 'might' help. They were desperate for their child to live. She would have died regardless of the treatment but maybe the treatment sped it up. There may be no way to know. The treatments are done in Peru, not the US.

OK, so the person had a no cure disease and took a chance for a cure in which they had a high chance of dying anyway. Sounds like a good chance that was the case.
